In Kyrgyzstan, 39.75 percent of deputy mandates in local councils are held by women

The dynamics of women's participation in the political life of Kyrgyzstan demonstrate a positive trend: their representation in local self-government bodies continues to grow. Currently, women hold 39.75% of deputy mandates in local councils, as reported by Kudaybergen Bazarbaev, director of the State Agency for Public Service and Local Self-Government.

He noted that as part of the administrative-territorial reform, the total number of deputy seats has decreased from 9062 to 6384. Nevertheless, 2538 women deputies have managed to earn the trust of voters.

Additionally, Bazarbaev touched on the topic of gender balance among state and municipal employees. According to him, the total number of employees in this sector is 22,425, of which 8604, or 38%, are women.

According to Kudaybergen Bazarbaev, the proportion of women is particularly high in ministries and agencies. For example, in the Ministry of Labor, this figure is 80%, in the Ministry of Education — 74%, in the Ministry of Emergency Situations — 69%, in the Ministry of Digital Development — 60%, in the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Court apparatus — 65%, and in the General Prosecutor's Office — 45%.
