The web version of the chatbot now has a new option
Google has announced a new feature for its advanced chatbot Gemini. The bot can now analyze your emails in Gmail, explore files on Google Drive, and view messages from Google Chat Workspace, as reported by Hi-Tech Mail.
To activate this feature, you need to enable the "Deep Research" mode. The artificial intelligence will be able to study emails, messages, spreadsheets, images, PDF documents, presentations, and other files used within the Google ecosystem to provide quality responses.
For example, you can ask Gemini to review the latest spreadsheet on Google Drive and supplement it with data from a conversation with a colleague in Google Chat. According to Google, this new feature can assist in market analysis before launching a product, based on information from team documents and emails.
Users can choose which services Gemini will have access to. You can limit it to just Google Search or Gmail, or manage access to all services simultaneously.
This feature is already available to all users in the web version of Gemini, and it is expected to be added to the mobile version of the chatbot by the end of the year.
It is worth noting that Deep Research is a tool for Gemini that allows for deep data analysis from various sources, including the internet. This feature was implemented in Gemini in December 2024, and similar capabilities appeared in ChatGPT starting February 2025.
