In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, work continues on the cleaning of collector-drainage networks (CDN). According to the press service of the mayor's office, this activity is carried out both manually and using specialized equipment. The main reason for the problems with clogging of the collectors is the illegal connection of household wastewater by local residents.
Among the main difficulties faced by the municipal enterprise "Bishkekzelenstroy" are:
- illegal connections leading to the discharge of household wastewater;
- unauthorized barriers on sites where drainage networks run;
- theft of manhole covers, which creates dangerous situations and complicates the maintenance of systems.
The cleaning of both open and closed collectors is carried out twice a year — in spring and autumn, with an emphasis on areas with high groundwater levels, including residential areas of the Pervomaisky and Sverdlovsky districts. Regular cleaning work is necessary due to siltation and the growth of reeds in the channels, which hinders the normal functioning of the system.

The length of the collector-drainage networks in Bishkek is 80.6 kilometers, of which:
- 64 thousand linear meters — open CDN;
- 16 thousand 600 linear meters — closed CDN.
The municipal enterprise "Bishkekzelenstroy" appeals to the residents of the city with a request not to pollute the irrigation channels and to treat municipal property and the work of city service employees with respect.
