The filming of the new movie has begun
This week, filming of a feature film dedicated to Chinghiz Aitmatov has started in Kyrgyzstan. Director and cinematographer Kanaybek Kalmatov reported that the film will be a biographical drama.
The project has already presented its first teaser, which has become an important milestone in its development. However, the name of the actor who will play Aitmatov remains a mystery.
The film is based on real events and covers key moments in the writer's life: from his childhood and personal struggles to recognition on the international literary stage. The creators aim to reflect the formation of Aitmatov's views and inner world, as well as his contribution to preserving the cultural identity of his people.
The premiere of the film is scheduled for 2026.
