Sergey Sobyanin, the mayor of Russia's capital, expressed sharp discontent regarding the criticism of labor migrants working in Moscow. This was reported by the portal "Moscow News."

Speaking against the opinion that only highly qualified specialists are needed in the capital, the mayor suggested that critics engage in physical labor.

“I would recommend those who are so confident in their opinion to take a broom and go out to the streets of Moscow, waving it with a higher education and a doctoral dissertation. I doubt they will do this. But who will then do this work? It turns out that we need migrants with higher education to take the places of Muscovites, while Muscovites will go sweep the streets? The logic in this is not entirely clear to me,” he noted.

In addition, Sobyanin emphasized that the presence of migrants willing to perform hard and unskilled labor has its advantages, as there is indeed a shortage of workers in this area. He also added that since 2018, the number of labor migrants in Moscow has remained at the same level, and any significant increase in their numbers, as is sometimes mentioned, is out of the question.
