Apple and Google warned about cyber threats — Central Asia is also under attack

These notifications complicate the actions of hackers

Companies Apple and Google have made a statement regarding the risks of attacks using commercial spyware that is available to government entities.

Apple sent its notifications on December 2, but did not disclose details — it did not specify the type of attacks, the scale of the operation, or potential perpetrators. Company representatives only noted that "to date, users in more than 150 countries have been notified."

According to information from Google, on December 3, they informed all known users that they had become targets of attacks using Intellexa spyware. According to the company, this concerns "several hundred accounts" in countries such as Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Angola, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and Tajikistan.

According to researcher John Scott-Railton from Citizen Lab, such notifications can complicate the actions of malicious actors, as they inform potential victims about the impending threat.

Often, such warnings become the basis for conducting investigations. For example, in the European Union, where high-profile officials have also become targets for surveillance using spyware.
