British singer Chris Rea, author of the hit The Road to Hell, has passed away

Chris Rea, the renowned British singer and guitarist, has passed away at the age of 74. He was the author of many popular melodies, among which The Road to Hell stands out particularly. This was reported by BBC News.

The musician's family released a statement: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear Chris. He left us today in the hospital, surrounded by loved ones, after a short illness.”

The hit The Road to Hell was released in 1989 and became the title track of the album of the same name.




Earlier, in 1988, he released the Christmas track Driving Home For Christmas, which traditionally appears in British charts during the holiday season.

Throughout his life, Chris Rea faced serious health issues: in the 1990s, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, underwent extensive surgery to remove several organs, and also suffered from type 1 diabetes.
