Olivier salad continues to be an integral part of the New Year's table for many families in Kyrgyzstan.
We conducted calculations to find out how much it will cost to prepare traditional Olivier for the holiday.
The calculations were based on average prices for products in Bishkek at the end of December.
Ingredients and prices:
- potatoes (1 kg) – 47 soms;
- carrots (2 pcs.) – 20 soms;
- boiled sausage (1 stick, about 400 g) – 210 soms;
- eggs (10 pcs.) – 130 soms;
- pickled cucumbers (8-10 pcs.) – 100 soms;
- green peas (1 can) – 150 soms;
- mayonnaise (400g) – 150 soms.
However, it should be noted that the final amount may vary, as some ingredients may remain unused, and prices depend on the brand and place of purchase. In any case, Olivier remains one of the most economical and filling dishes for the festive table. Therefore, a homemade New Year's salad not only preserves traditions but also is a sensible choice for the celebration.
