In Kyrgyzstan, air pollution is becoming an increasingly pressing issue. Harmful substances are released not only from exhaust pipes and old stoves but also at landfills that are overflowing with garbage. Every discarded plastic item, syringe, or expired medication becomes part of a dangerous mass of toxins that poisons our environment for years, affecting people's health.

According to statistics from 2023, class one hazardous waste is not registered in Kyrgyzstan. Although this may seem encouraging, it actually indicates shortcomings in accounting. In reality, mercury, batteries, and medical waste continue to enter the general waste stream, getting lost among other refuse. At the same time, the secondary class of hazardous waste raises particular concern, especially in the Chui and Issyk-Kul regions, where such substances gradually accumulate in the soil and water, remaining unnoticed by city dwellers.
