Freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan discussed by the Minister of Culture and an OSCE representative
In Vienna, the capital of Austria, a meeting took place between Mirbek Mambetaliev, the head of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, and Jan Bratu, the OSCE representative on freedom of the media. This was reported by the ministry's press service.

During the discussion, the participants emphasized the state of the media sphere in Kyrgyzstan and the issues related to freedom of expression.

The Minister of Culture noted that the republic adheres to international commitments regarding freedom of speech, highlighting the need to maintain a balance between media freedom and responsibility for disseminating information.

During the conversation, issues such as digital transformation, combating disinformation, and raising professional standards and media literacy were also discussed.

Particular attention was paid to legislative initiatives, the safety of journalists, and the development of practical cooperation with the OSCE. Measures such as expert support, training programs, and the exchange of best practices were discussed.
