International experts have begun preparing a new nomination for the optimization of the buffer zone boundaries of "Sulaiman-Too"

On January 7, the head of the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, Mirbek Mambetaliev, along with Deputy Askaraly Madaminov, held a meeting with an international team of experts who arrived in the country to work on the UNESCO project "Sacred Mountain – Sulayman-Too."

According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, the experts will be in Kyrgyzstan from January 7 to 12. Their goal is to prepare new nominations that will help optimize the boundaries of the buffer zone of the site and assess the impact on this World Heritage site.

The group of experts includes:

- Dmitry Voyakin, who is a goodwill ambassador of Kazakhstan and a member of the national commission for UNESCO and ISESCO; he also represents the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan at MondiaCult 2025 and is the coordinator of the "Central Asian Archaeological Landscapes" (CAAL) project at University College London (UCL);

- Kai Waize, former president of ICOMOS Nepal and currently the coordinator of the ICOMOS Regional Network for the Asia-Pacific region;

- Nargiz Aituganova, a specialist in cultural world heritage.

During the discussion, the participants focused on issues related to the protection of the "Sulayman-Too" site, as well as compliance with UNESCO standards and recommendations. They also discussed further steps for preparing and agreeing on the updated nomination.
