The Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, Mirbek Mambetaliev, shared information about planned measures to improve the financial situation of workers in the cultural sector in an interview with AKIpress.

In his statement, he noted that starting from April of this year, the salaries of all budget employees involved in education and culture will be increased by 50%. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture has proposed to increase bonuses for employees in this sector.

“The initiative was supported by the chairman and members of the Cabinet of Ministers. Each theater and cultural institution has special funds that they earn themselves. Previously, only 30% of these funds could be allocated for bonuses. We decided to increase this percentage to 70% to motivate our workers,” explained Mirbek Mambetaliev.

Earlier, Adylbek Kasymaliev, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, announced that a salary increase for civil servants is planned for 2026, which will be implemented in two stages. The first stage will begin in April, when the salaries of teachers, medical staff, cultural workers, and support staff will be increased by at least 50%. The second stage, scheduled for September 1, will cover salary increases for state and municipal employees by the same 50%.

Kasymaliev also noted that implementing these changes will require about 57 billion soms per year, of which 39 billion soms are already included in the budget for 2026.
