Preparing this nomination took four years, starting from the submission of the application to the UNESCO secretariat in 2023. After that, the application was assessed by international independent experts. Ultimately, the decision to include it in the list was made by the intergovernmental committee.
The goal of inclusion in the UNESCO international list is to raise the popularity of intangible cultural heritage on a global level.
Currently, the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage includes 812 elements from 153 countries.
From Kyrgyzstan, 16 elements have already been included in this list, among which are the epic trilogy "Manas, Semetey, Seytek," the art of creating felt carpets: ala-kiyiz and shyrdak, "Games of the Nomads," cultural diversity, and the traditional horseback game kok-boru.
