Work is coordinated by an interdepartmental commission headed by Minister Maratbek Mashiev. The updated commission, whose composition was approved by a government decree, includes representatives from 25 ministries and agencies, as well as deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh. This expansion of the composition has improved intersectoral interaction and coordination of environmental initiatives.
Among the significant measures is the improvement of gasification accessibility for citizens. According to a government decree, the population can obtain preferential loans for gasifying homes of up to 150,000 soms at an interest rate of 3% per annum (instead of the previous 8%). This has led to the connection of more than 51,000 households to gas supply in Bishkek and reduced coal consumption by about 100,000 tons.
In order to protect citizens' health, the government has imposed a ban on the import, sale, storage, and use of bulk coal with a fraction of 0–13 millimeters in Bishkek and the Chui region. The only exception is for heat energy enterprises.
Additionally, the Ministry of Natural Resources has strengthened state environmental control. Raids are being conducted across the country to check emissions from vehicles and enterprises. In 2025, 202 protocols were initiated against motorists for exceeding emission standards, amounting to 3.7 million soms, and for economic entities — 450 protocols totaling 9.87 million soms. Also, 3,795 organizations received notifications about the need to comply with environmental standards.
Alongside these measures, the Ministry is actively participating in the creation of the natural and ecological framework of Bishkek, which should contribute to improving environmental conditions and enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
