Recently, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Education focused on issues related to the training of teaching staff and their professional development.

High-ranking officials participated in the event, including Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov, Minister of Education Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, and Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations Gulzat Isamatova. Rectors and representatives of higher educational institutions preparing teachers were also present.

During the meeting, relevant issues concerning teacher training, professional development, organization of training events in accordance with new state and subject standards, as well as strengthening methodological support were discussed.

Additionally, topics such as attracting international experts and trainers, providing state support to students studying in pedagogical specialties, and preparing teachers for STEM disciplines in English were also addressed.

Edil Baisalov emphasized that the teacher is a central figure in the education system. He stressed that the training of teachers and their professional development should become a priority for state policy. He also noted the need for coordinated work among all stakeholders in this area.

Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva added that pedagogical universities should become the main drivers of change in the teacher training system.

It is worth noting that according to the Ministry of Education, as of December 2025, there is a shortage of 761 teachers in Kyrgyzstan's schools, particularly in subjects such as mathematics, music, Russian language and literature, physics, history, chemistry, and geography.
