Igor Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Association of International Freight Carriers of Kyrgyzstan, shared his opinion regarding the traffic jam of heavy trucks at the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, the reason for the accumulation of trucks was the increased control by the Border Service of Kazakhstan and the Committee of State Revenues. This led to a slowdown in cargo processing and the formation of traffic jams.

Golubev noted that such checks are conducted from time to time.

“At the checkpoint ‘Ken-Bulun’, empty trucks are standing, which creates long queues. A similar situation is observed at the ‘Karasu’ checkpoint, where a massive traffic jam has formed, reaching the cement plant in Kant,” he said.

In addition, the association is actively cooperating with government structures to resolve this issue.

He emphasized the importance of modernizing the checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.

“We have included this issue in the overall strategy for the development of Kyrgyzstan as a logistics hub until 2030. The implementation of this program will reduce queues and increase the efficiency of freight transportation,” he added.

It was previously reported that at the checkpoint on the border with Kazakhstan, the movement of freight transport has virtually stopped — drivers claim they have been unable to cross the border for three days.

The Eurasian Economic Commission also commented on the current situation at certain sections of the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border. The EEC noted that the delays are related to planned activities by border guards aimed at combating the illegal circulation of goods.

The Kazakh side assured that these measures are temporary and do not affect the regime of Eurasian integration.
