In Kazakhstan, the special services have begun an investigation into Nurlan Saburov

The law enforcement agencies do not disclose details

According to information provided by "RIA Novosti," the National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan has initiated an investigation concerning Nurlan Saburov, a popular stand-up comedian.

At this time, law enforcement agencies are not revealing details regarding the article under which the investigation is being conducted, as reported by "Expert."

On February 11, Deputy Attorney General of Kazakhstan Galymzhan Koigeldiev noted that media materials mentioning Nurlan Saburov's support for Russian military actions require careful examination. He added that questions regarding a possible violation of Article 170 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, concerning mercenarism, fall under the jurisdiction of the NSC. Violation of this article may result in imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years.

It is worth recalling that on February 6, TASS and "RIA Novosti" reported that Nurlan Saburov had been banned from entering Russia for 50 years. The comedian learned of this upon arriving at Vnukovo Airport from the United Arab Emirates. On the same day, he flew back to Almaty.

The entry ban to Russia was imposed for the purpose of ensuring national security, as explained by sources from the publication. The main reasons included his public criticism of Russian military operations, as well as violations of tax and migration legislation. One of TASS's sources clarified that the ban was based on a court decision to hold Saburov administratively liable under part 3.1 of Article 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, concerning violations of entry and stay conditions. This ruling was issued in May 2025, and the ban can only be lifted after a review by a higher court.

Nurlan Saburov is a citizen of Kazakhstan who moved to Russia after finishing school. During his student years, he participated in KVN, and later became one of the residents of the Stand Up show on the TNT channel. Since 2019, he has hosted the program "What Happened Next?" which initially aired on YouTube and later moved to the "VK Video" platform.
