Zhanar Akayev, the new mayor of Osh, has taken the initiative to continue the practices of his predecessor Jenishbek Toktorbaev by conducting raids on the streets of the city. The mayor's office has already published a video of his latest inspection.
It should be noted that Toktorbaev's working style, which includes a large team of subordinates and mandatory video cameras to document his remarks and instructions, became popular after his raids, which took place in various outfits—from sportswear to hunting gear—gained attention on social media.
This trend quickly spread among other mayors and regional leaders looking to gain instant popularity. However, the difference between officials appearing on screen and real changes in the city can be significant, as evidenced by the situation with the fountains in Bishkek and the encroachment on the sidewalk near the Beta-Stories 1 shopping center.
Today, Akayev held a meeting with traders on Tylek Batyr and Kara-Suu streets, ordering municipal services to address illegal trading.
