This behavior negatively affects the image of the republic in other countries
Citizens of Kyrgyzstan expressed their dissatisfaction with the behavior of the mayors of Bishkek and Osh, Aibek Junushaliev and Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, during raids to control compliance with the silence law after 10 PM. President Sadyr Japarov also expressed his position on this issue.
According to former deputy mayor of the First May district of Bishkek, Mavlyan Askarbekov, such unethical actions should not be tolerated among officials, especially those in high positions.
“Society is actively discussing and condemning the behavior of the mayors. Their actions contradict the laws, and I would like to address the president — this is not the first case of such incidents. There have been reprimands, but the situation remains the same,” he noted.
According to him, such incidents not only negatively affect domestic politics but also tarnish the image of Kyrgyzstan abroad.
“We see how bloggers and media from neighboring countries comment on the actions of our mayors, sometimes with elements of mockery. Perhaps it is worth considering stricter measures, including the removal of these officials and appointing more adequate people in their places. There are many problems in the cities, such as smog, transportation difficulties, and social issues. These problems require solutions, but so far we only see populist steps,” added Askarbekov.
Kyrgyzstan already has all the necessary norms and rules of conduct for public servants.
“All public servants must act strictly in accordance with the laws and make well-considered decisions. This will help protect the officials themselves, as they will be held accountable for illegal actions, possibly not immediately, but sooner or later. Therefore, their work must strictly adhere to the legislation,” concluded the former deputy head of the district.
