Local authorities noted that many establishments were violating the cabinet of ministers' decree: they had excessively bright lighting, advertising and decorative lamps continued to operate, and some business owners were not following instructions to reduce energy consumption in the evening.
Entrepreneurs, for their part, expressed dissatisfaction. Cafe and restaurant owners pointed out that their main flow of customers occurs in the evening hours, and such requirements for partial disconnection of lights could negatively impact their business.
In response, the mayor sharply asked one of the owners: “Why are you ignoring the requirements? Does the law mean nothing to you? If this continues, I will leave you without work for a month.”
The president criticized officials for their overly active actions. He stated: “I don’t know if you understand the task of saving electricity correctly. It is not necessary to insist on restrictions for individuals and small businesses regarding electricity consumption. You have scared people greatly and created unnecessary hype.”
He also expressed doubts about whether there are those among them who want to sabotage the elections, adding that such people are on the streets, and their actions only exacerbate the situation.
Japarov pointed out that the main goal is to disconnect electricity supply after 6:00 PM in government institutions, starting from the ayil okmotu and ending with “Yntymak-Ordo.” He emphasized that after working hours, it does not take much effort to turn off electrical appliances and lights. Furthermore, he noted that lights are even on in the corridors during the day, and this needs to be controlled. “Energy saving should start with you!” — the president declared, urging officials to leave small and medium-sized businesses alone.
It is unknown whether the mayor apologized to business representatives after this meeting.
