During the raid, Mayor J. Toktorbaev ordered the suspension of operations for 12 cafes and four other establishments for one day.
According to information from the mayor's office, these establishments were disconnected from electricity and water supply.
However, Vice Mayor S. Junusbaev noted that, in fact, there were no disconnections — the establishments simply decided to take a day off.
“Indeed, nothing was disconnected. The next day they reopened. It was their own decision to take a day off,” commented Junusbaev.
But two days after the raid, on November 15, the mayor met with the owners of some cafes and restaurants and instructed the relevant services to fully restore the water and electricity supply.
“You had a little rest. Now work as usual. Sonunbek Junusov, ensure the complete restoration of water and electricity supply. No obstacles, and I wish you a successful work process,” added Toktorbaev.
Earlier, following a request from the chairman of the State National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, to strengthen control over compliance with the "Noise Law," the city administration of Osh began raids in cafes and restaurants.
However, the mayor's actions sparked heated discussions among the public. Many social media users criticized his actions, calling them "abuse of power" and "rude behavior." Video recordings of the raid showed the mayor communicating with entrepreneurs and administrators in a harsh tone. The next morning, the mayor's office removed all video recordings from the raid from its social media, which intensified negative responses in society.
- Reminder, President Sadyr Japarov urged the mayors of Bishkek and Osh to "stop the extremes" during the electricity-saving raids.
