According to information from sources, testing of the video call feature has already begun on WhatsApp Web. At the moment, it is only available in beta and not for all users. Users will be able to call in personal chats through the browser without installing additional software on their PCs.
“The development of this feature has been ongoing for a year, and during this time WhatsApp has refined it to match the capabilities of desktop applications. In the first stage, the focus is on individual chats, allowing users to make calls without installing the desktop app. Just open the chat and press the call button,” the publication noted.
As for group calls through the browser, this feature is still under development.
How to use the new feature
- Open a chat in the browser;
- click the call button;
- call without the need to install additional software.
- all conversations are protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring complete confidentiality;
- in addition to calls, there will be an option for screen sharing;
- up to 32 people can participate in one call. Invitation links and the ability to schedule meetings will also be available.
