A Youth Council is being established in Kyrgyzstan under the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh

The main task of the Council is to actively engage youth in various spheres of public life, including politics and economics.

At today’s session of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Tabyldy Muratbekov announced the establishment of a Youth Council, which will operate under the Speaker of Parliament.

According to Muratbekov, the Ministry of Culture is responsible for implementing state youth policy in Kyrgyzstan. However, there are only seven employees in the central office dealing with this area. District cultural departments are also involved, but their work is generally formal.

The deputy noted that the initiative to create the Youth Council was previously proposed and received support from the Speaker. Now the project is officially launched.

The Council will facilitate active youth participation in the public, political, cultural, and socio-economic life of the country, as well as protect the rights and interests of young citizens.

In the deputy's opinion, the new Council will become an important platform that unites parliamentarians and the youth of Kyrgyzstan. It is expected that meetings will be held quarterly, where young people can voice their initiatives, and their proposals will be discussed at sessions.

The Council will include the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputies, representatives of government bodies, youth organizations, members of youth movements, students, and representatives of international organizations. The executive body will perform the functions of the secretariat. Regional representations are also planned.

The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev, will head the new Council.

In addition, Muratbekov noted that the funding for the Council's activities will not be provided from the state budget.
