A press café titled “Women with Disabilities: Leadership Without Barriers” took place on March 2 in Bishkek in honor of International Women's Day on March 8. This information was published by the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration.
Participants included deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, representatives of government institutions, media, civil society organizations, international partners, and women with disabilities.
Discussions during the event focused on the contributions of women with disabilities to the country's development, the promotion of inclusive policies, and the ethical coverage of disability and gender issues in the media.
Additionally, participants had the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from women leaders with disabilities from various regions of the country.
Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Ainura Orozbaeva emphasized the importance of leadership among women with disabilities in overcoming physical and social barriers, combating double discrimination, and promoting inclusion.
She noted that women and girls with disabilities often face violence, social isolation, and limitations in accessing services.
According to her, state policy should take into account their unique needs and ensure their real representation in the decision-making process.
The ministry actively supports the protection of the rights of women and girls, especially those facing multiple forms of discrimination.
In 2024-2025, training workshops for advocates, prosecutors, investigators, and social workers on the protection of the rights of women and girls with disabilities who have experienced violence are planned in various regions of the country. More than 400 specialists will participate in this training.
