The deputy provided examples of the use of SIM cards from Italy and other European countries, asking: "Is it possible to control the use of such SIM cards so that calls from unregistered numbers do not reach our citizens?"
In response, Deputy Minister of Digital Development Nursultan Kubanov stated that measures are already being taken in this direction. Previously, there was an option to register with foreign numbers, but now this option is limited.
Amanova pointed out that restricting the placement of advertisements with foreign numbers is a positive step. However, she strongly urged to address the issue of phone calls from such numbers, mentioning that many citizens have fallen victim to fraud. "Some receive calls from people claiming to be employees of the State Committee for National Security, saying that a criminal case has been opened against them. And when they try to call back, the numbers are already unavailable," she added.
Kubanov noted that current statistics on fraud show improvements compared to previous years.
The deputy also emphasized that the use of foreign numbers in fraudulent schemes represents a basic level of cyber fraud, while there are more complex methods of deception, including artificial intelligence technologies. Therefore, in her opinion, the Ministry of Digital Development should intensify its efforts.
