Bishkek will host the championship in Nordic walking for the first time in Karagachevaya Grove

The sports traditions of Bishkek will be enriched by a new event — on April 5 at 10:30, the first championship in Nordic walking will take place in Karagachevaya Grove. Participation in the competition is open to everyone, regardless of fitness level and age, providing an opportunity for anyone interested to test their strength.

The organization of this significant championship for the city is carried out by the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Bishkek City Hall in collaboration with the Federation of Sports Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event is supported by relevant organizations, the Nordic Walking School "Eurasia," and the sports club named after B.N. Yeltsin KRSU.

Participants will need to cover a distance of 5 kilometers with a time limit of one hour. The competition will be held in both absolute standings and in five age groups — from youth to veterans over 70 years old. Winners will receive trophies and valuable prizes from the championship partner, the ATHLETEX PRO store, while participants who place in the top three in their age categories will be awarded medals and certificates. Special prizes will also be awarded to the man and woman with the best walking technique.

To participate, special poles are required, but if you don’t have them, the organizers offer to rent equipment directly at the starting point. The entry fee is 800 soms, with a discount for students — 500 soms.

For those who want to try their hand at this sport for the first time or improve their technique before the competition, free training sessions are offered. Open classes will take place in Karagachevaya Grove on March 22 and 28 at 12:00. This is a great opportunity to learn the proper walking technique under the guidance of experienced instructors and confidently prepare for the start on April 5.
