Practical Guides on Countering Extremism Developed in Kyrgyzstan
As reported by representatives of Prevention Media, these manuals are intended for journalists, digital content creators, press service employees, and law enforcement officials. The main goal of these materials is to provide practical tools that will help responsibly address sensitive issues and minimize the risks of spreading extremist ideas.
“These manuals are not just theoretical developments, but real tools that specialists can use in their daily activities. They contribute to the formation of responsible communication, help reduce the risk of radicalization, and create a resilient information environment. Effective prevention of extremism is impossible without a systematic approach to information and cooperation between media and state institutions,” the organization emphasizes.
Particular attention in the manuals is given to the interaction between the media and the internal affairs bodies, viewed as a key factor in the resilience of society.
Content creators will be better equipped to navigate the legislative aspects of the media, understand constitutional rights, and adhere to professional ethics, enabling them to discuss complex topics without using hate speech. At the same time, police officers will acquire skills in a human rights-based approach and modern communication methods, allowing the media to become not just a channel of information, but an important partner.
In the future, there are plans to integrate these manuals into the training programs of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and the continuing education system for media professionals. It is expected that this will contribute to reducing conflict, strengthening trust in society, and creating a safer information space.
