The Russian Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic responded to reports that appeared on social media regarding the opinions of some public figures about the status of the Russian language.

In a statement, the diplomats emphasized that such topics are becoming increasingly confrontational and are actively promoted in the information space.

“We find it appropriate, without delving into disputes, to remind about the foundations of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the message states.

The embassy noted that according to the Basic Law, the Kyrgyz language is the state language, while Russian has official status. All ethnic groups are guaranteed the preservation and development of their native language, as well as access to the study of the state, official, and foreign languages.

Furthermore, the diplomats pointed out that the Constitution prohibits discrimination based on language and other characteristics, and the state is committed to ensuring interethnic harmony.

In the opinion of the embassy, provocative statements and actions disseminated on social media “undermine the foundations of the Basic Law of Kyrgyzstan, discredit state foundations, and contribute to the incitement of interethnic hatred.”

In their statement, the diplomats also noted that the activities of so-called “language patrols” in Bishkek contradict the policy of the Kyrgyz leadership, which shows respect for the Russian language, as well as the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. They emphasized that the countries are connected by a common history, cultural, and spiritual values.

It is important to note that the embassy's statement does not mention specific names of public figures.
