In the Batken region, farmers reported to a Turmush correspondent that prices for cattle have fallen by 15,000 to 20,000 soms recently.

According to representatives of the local agriculture sector, this decline is associated with the spread of infectious diseases across the country. Additionally, compared to the fall, prices for feed and hay have increased.

There is also a decrease in prices for sheep and goats — by 2,000 to 3,000 soms.

Despite this, interest in breeding animals, as well as livestock for meat and dairy production, remains high.

At the Batken market, an Aberdeen-Angus bull was presented, valued at 327,000 soms. Its weight is 794 kilograms, and its age is 2.5 to 3 years, making it one of the largest animals in the market. Each kilogram of the animal was valued at 412 soms.

Information:

The Aberdeen-Angus breed originates from Scotland and is known for its rapid maturity, meat quality, and good fattening ability. When crossed with other breeds, these animals pass on excellent meat characteristics to their offspring.

Aberdeen-Angus cattle can withstand cold conditions and can be kept outdoors. The average live weight of cows is 500–700 kg, and bulls weigh 750–1000 kg. Steer calves, when intensively fed, reach a weight of 450–460 kg at 15–16 months, while calves can weigh up to 200 kg by 7–8 months. Newborn calves weigh 16 kg, while bull calves weigh 25 kg. A mother with a good maternal instinct can nurse calves for up to 8 months.

The average daily gain is 700–800 grams, and the meat yield at slaughter reaches approximately 60%. Feed costs for 1 kg of gain amount to 6.5 feed units, and milk production is around 2,000 kg of milk. Angus meat, along with Hereford meat, is considered one of the best for steaks. Certified Angus Beef from USDA stands out for its high quality and marbling. However, it is worth noting that this labeling does not always indicate belonging to the Angus breed, as there are requirements for exterior and carcass quality that can also be met by other breeds.
