Akzhol Makhmudov won a gold medal at the Islamic Games. How did the other wrestlers perform?

From November 7 to 21, the Islamic Solidarity Games are taking place in Saudi Arabia, where Akzhol Mahmoudov won a gold medal in the Greco-Roman wrestling category up to 77 kg. On his way to victory, he first defeated Tunisian Sami Slam, then beat Egyptian Yehya Abdelkader. To reach the finals, Akzhol overcame Qatari Shahin Badagimofrad and won the decisive match against Iranian Abdi Amir.

This award became the first for the national team at these Islamic Games, although Greco-Roman wrestlers had previously won two bronze medals: Razzak Beyshekeev in the up to 67 kg category and Asan Zhanishov in the up to 87 kg category.

In the overall medal standings for Greco-Roman wrestling, the Kyrgyzstan team took third place, scoring 73 points in the team competition among 16 teams.
