The press service of the World Taekwondo Federation announced that Russian athletes have been granted permission to participate in international competitions with the flag and anthem of their country.

The organization noted that both Russian and Belarusian athletes, both juniors and adults, can now compete in international tournaments using national symbols.

However, tournaments under the auspices of the World Federation still cannot be held on the territory of Russia, and accreditation for government officials from Russia and Belarus will remain unavailable.

It is worth recalling that in 2022, Russian athletes were suspended from international competitions.

In October, the International Sambo Federation allowed participants from Russia and Belarus to represent their countries with flags and anthems at youth and junior competitions.

Earlier, the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation (IJF) also decided to allow Russian athletes to compete with national symbols at international tournaments.

Additionally, the Congress of European Gymnastics (EG) decided to restore the eligibility of Russian athletes to compete in events held under the auspices of EG.

In December, the International Olympic Committee lifted restrictions on the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in youth competitions.
