During the voting, delegates from 27 countries representing the federation supported this decision out of a total of 48 participating states.
The reinstatement applies to all disciplines governed by EG, including artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, sports acrobatics, and aerobics.
This opens up opportunities for Russian gymnasts to participate in qualifying tournaments for the 2028 Olympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles. Additionally, in trampoline events, athletes will be able to obtain Olympic licenses through international competitions held outside of Europe.
It is worth noting that since 2022, Russian athletes have been suspended from competitions organized by EG and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) due to the onset of the conflict in Ukraine. Starting in January 2024, FIG has allowed participation in tournaments under a neutral status.
