FIAS allowed sambists from Russia and Belarus to compete under national flags

The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Degtyarev, announced that the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) has allowed participants from Russia and Belarus to compete under the flags of their countries. In his opinion, this decision contributes to returning the situation to a legal framework and strengthens the fundamental principle of sports: it should serve as a means of dialogue, not a political tool.

It is worth noting that in October, FIAS also permitted Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in youth and junior competitions using national flags and anthems.

Let us not forget that the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation (IJF) also previously supported the decision to restore the right of Russian athletes to compete under the flag of their country, with the anthem and other symbols.

Additionally, the Congress of European Gymnastics (EG) announced the restoration of access for Russian athletes to its competitions.
