The World Sambo Championship in Bishkek has concluded. Kyrgyzstan wins two gold medals.

The World Sambo Championship for adults has concluded its competitions in Bishkek, where Kyrgyz athletes won a total of five medals.

Notable figures in sports attended the event, including the president of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) Vasily Shestakov, legendary MMA fighter Fedor Emelianenko, and world boxing champion Dmitry Bivol.

Shestakov noted that the championship in Bishkek was an important milestone in the global development of sambo, emphasizing that this event demonstrates the growing popularity and diversity of the sport. "We are witnessing traditional sambo schools strengthening, while new countries are starting to participate actively," he added.

Representatives from over 40 countries participated in the competitions, vying for 28 sets of medals in both sport and combat sambo.

As a result of the championship, Kyrgyzstan won two gold medals, one silver, and two bronze medals.

The gold medal in sport sambo in the weight category over 98 kg was won by heavyweight Bekbolot Toktogonov, who defeated Uzbek athlete Asror Khamidov in the final.


Daniel Asekov also won a gold medal in combat sambo in the category up to 58 kg, defeating Khakberdi Jumayev from Turkmenistan in the final.

The silver medal for Kyrgyzstan was brought by Elkhan Orozaliev, who lost in the final to Ukrainian athlete Vladislav Rudnev.

Two bronze medals were won by female sambists Akak Usun kyzy and Meerimai Nuradilova in combat sambo.

In the overall team standings, the Kyrgyzstan team finished in the top three, taking third place. The first place was taken by athletes from Russia, competing under the flag of the international federation, with 28 medals, including 21 gold. The second place went to the Kazakhstan team, which won two gold, two silver, and eight bronze medals.

As part of the championship, a competition was also held among Paralympians, specifically among the visually impaired and blind. Kyrgyzstan was represented by two athletes, but they did not win any prizes.
