The International Olympic Committee was supposed to lift restrictions on the participation of young athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions.

The IOC emphasizes that young athletes should not face barriers on their way to international tournaments.

However, the detailed definition of youth competitions and the implementation of these recommendations will depend on the rules established by each international sports federation. The issue of admission to the Olympic Games and other tournaments remains within the competence of the sports federations.

This IOC decision applies to both individual and team sports, based on the principle of "political neutrality" of the Olympic movement, as stated in the announcement.

It is worth noting that in 2022, Russian athletes were suspended from international competitions.

Last month, the International Sambo Federation allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete under their flags and with anthems at youth and junior tournaments.
Additionally, the executive committee of the International Judo Federation (IJF) previously made a decision to restore the right of Russian athletes to compete under their national flag, with the anthem and other national symbols.

Furthermore, the Congress of European Gymnastics (EG) supported the decision to restore the admission of Russian athletes to competitions under the organization's auspices.
