Aynura Medetova, head of the social and economic development department of the Ala-Bugin rural administration, reported that in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, celebrated on February 23, the athlete was presented with a cash prize of 30,000 soms, as well as the honorary title. Additionally, wrestlers who took prize places at the international grappling tournament held last week were also awarded.
Turmush previously reported that 9 wrestlers from this sports club participated in the international grappling championship in Bishkek, with 5 of them winning prizes. Kamchy Tolopaldy uulu competed in the weight category up to 78 kg at a significant international freestyle wrestling tournament and became the holder of the championship belt.
The winners were joyfully welcomed by their fellow countrymen: traditionally, Kamchy Tolopaldy uulu was gifted a horse, and local authorities presented him with 20,000 soms and other awards.
The athlete is appealing to the authorities for the construction of a modern sports hall in the village. "The current building we use used to be a hospital and then a kindergarten. It is outdated, lacks heating, and during rains, the roof leaks — essentially, it has become unusable and abandoned. In 2018, with the support of the villagers and the then-head of the rural administration, Gulmayram Uchugonova, we carried out repairs and opened the grappling hall named after Yrysbek uulu Turatbek. Since its opening, between 50 to 70 children have been training in the hall. We are achieving success, but the old building creates many inconveniences due to its crampedness. If the authorities could help and build a new sports hall, we would have more champions in the future," shared Kamchybek Tolopaldy uulu.
