Nurzhan Jetibaev took charge of the Kyrgyz national team in October 2025.
Under his leadership, the team prepared for the final stage of the Asian Cup, which took place in January 2026 in Indonesia.
During the tournament, the Kyrgyz team suffered defeats against Iraq and Indonesia, but achieved a victory over Korea; however, they were unable to advance beyond the group stage, finishing in third place.
