Financial Times: Kyrgyzstan Ranks Among the Top 7 Countries to Travel to in 2016
The international business newspaper Financial Times recommended its readers to visit Kyrgyzstan in 2016, which is well-suited with its nomadic culture and beautiful landscapes of mountains, lakes, and forests. The seven key countries also included Sri Lanka, Peru, Greenland, Brazil, Cuba, and South Africa, and the list was formed based on the opinions of leaders in the tourism industry.
The article notes that an increasing number of foreigners want to visit Kyrgyzstan. “We see a large number of clients wanting to escape the fast pace of modern life and head to remote places,” said FT founder of the leading travel agency Wild Frontiers, Johnny Balby.
According to Balby, orders for Kyrgyzstan account for up to 30% of his company: “Kyrgyzstan is ideal for these purposes, considering its nomadic culture and beautiful landscapes of mountains, lakes, and forests.”
Financial Times particularly highlighted the role of the visa-free regime in the development of tourism, as well as the fact that the parliamentary elections of 2015 were held peacefully and freely, quoting a statement from the OSCE about the “unique [elections - ed. K-News] in this region.”
“In the upcoming year, there will be a number of festivals, as well as celebrations of the 25th anniversary of independence, which will include competitions in archery, wrestling, and buzkashi [kök-börü - ed. note] - a mix of polo and rugby that uses a dead goat instead of a ball),” the newspaper announced.
Financial Times specializes in publishing and analyzing news from the world of finance and business and belongs to the group of so-called “quality publications,” which include reputable newspapers with a distinguished history.
It is worth noting that at the end of the year, the British newspaper The Guardian named Kyrgyzstan a “hot destination for mountaineering,” and according to Business Insider, Kyrgyzstan was among the 12 developing tourist destinations that travelers should visit in 2016.
