Former head of GTS Samat Isabekov appointed director of the Customs Infrastructure Department of the EEC

- Samat Isabekov has been appointed as the director of the Customs Infrastructure Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission as of December 10. This was reported on December 12 on the website of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

According to the EEC, Isabekov was born in 1972.

In 1995, he graduated from the Kyrgyz National University with a degree in "law," and in 2009, he completed his studies at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, obtaining a diploma in "international relations."

Since 1996, he has worked in the customs authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic, holding both operational and managerial positions.

In June 2021, Isabekov became the chairman of the State Customs Service under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Kyrgyzstan and was awarded the title of Major General of the Customs Service.

The Customs Infrastructure Department is an important structural element of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), responsible for the development of customs infrastructure at points of crossing goods across the borders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). It also ensures the operation of information systems and technologies of the customs authorities of the EAEU member states, as well as cross-border information interaction in the field of customs affairs.

The main functions of the Department include:

• creating standard requirements for the arrangement and technical equipment of checkpoints;

• developing and updating classifiers for customs documents and requirements for their electronic versions;

• organizational and regulatory-methodological support for common processes in the customs sphere;

• establishing information interaction between customs authorities, including cooperation with customs services of third countries, conducting negotiations, and concluding international agreements.
