At the meeting of the CSTO Council in Bishkek, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that over the past decades, the organization has gained significant authority on the regional stage.

He emphasized that Moscow intends to continue active cooperation with partners to strengthen the CSTO's defense potential.

Starting from January 1, 2026, as announced, Russia will assume the presidency of the CSTO. The theme of the presidency will focus on the principles of "Collective Security in a Multipolar World, Common Goal, Shared Responsibility." Putin assured that Russia will do everything possible to maintain continuity in key areas of interaction and the development of relations between states based on true partnership, friendship, and good neighborliness, as well as mutual support and consideration of each other's interests.

He also announced the holding of an International Expert Forum on Equal Security issues in 2026.

An important part of the agenda, according to Putin, will be the development of the CSTO's air forces, which requires special attention. He stressed that the CSTO will actively develop cooperation in the defense industry. The main efforts will be directed towards enhancing the combat readiness of national contingents and improving the management of collective forces.

Today, November 27, the CSTO summit is taking place in Bishkek.
