Kyrgyzstan Nominated for Non-Permanent Membership in the UN Security Council

At the briefing of the permanent representatives of Central Asian countries at the UN in New York, held on December 5, the heads of state of the region called on UN members to support Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council for the years 2027-2028. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

Ulugbek Lapasov, the permanent representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, spoke about a meeting that took place on November 16 in Tashkent, where the presidents emphasized that Kyrgyzstan's nomination for this position symbolizes Central Asia's desire to contribute more to global security and peace.

Aida Kasymalieva, the permanent representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN, noted that if elected, Kyrgyzstan would become a responsible and principled member of the Security Council, ready to actively contribute to strengthening international security and ensuring that the voices of all regions, especially small and developing states, are heard.
