Chairman of the State National Security Committee shared details about the fight against corruption in the country
Kamchybek Tashiev, head of the State National Security Committee, stated in an interview with the "Region" channel that as a result of his anti-corruption activities, he has lost about 70% of his relatives and friends.
“The fight against corruption benefits society, but for me, it is an extremely difficult task. Among those we hold accountable are my close ones, friends, and colleagues. I cannot ignore their crimes,” Tashiev noted.
He added that the anti-corruption efforts are complicated by the fact that corruption has become the norm for many people, and millions resist law enforcement agencies, unwilling to change their accustomed way of life.
“Previously, most officials were involved in corrupt schemes and enriched themselves at the expense of the people. We are legally returning their property back. Undoubtedly, many are dissatisfied with our work. For example, from one of the officials during Akayev's time, we seized more than 50 properties, including factories, plants, and land plots. He and his family harbor hatred towards us. However, the results of our work are evident. The level of corruption in government agencies, which once reached 80%, has now decreased to 30%. Our goal is to bring this level down to 10%. Soon all citizens will feel the positive changes,” emphasized the head of the State National Security Committee.
