Kamchybek Tashiev, who holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and heads the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), expressed his opinion on the politicization of certain international organizations that compile country rankings on corruption.

In an interview on Region TV, he noted that certain international structures may be involved in corrupt schemes, and this needs to be discussed. Tashiev emphasized that corruption in Kyrgyzstan has significantly decreased in recent years.

“Some organizations that create rankings negatively affect the reputation of our country on the international stage, but this does not have a real impact. We cannot compare the level of corruption today with what it was in 2020. We have changed — both as government bodies and as a society. We have strengthened legislation related to the fight against corruption. Although problems still exist, they are at a lower level and will be gradually eliminated,” he said.

Tashiev also added that foreign organizations involved in such rankings often turn out to be politically motivated. Currently, Kyrgyzstan demonstrates good results in the fight against corruption among post-Soviet countries.

He acknowledged that the country has not yet reached the level of European countries, but work in this direction continues. “Our indicators should have significantly improved, but it is not beneficial for international organizations. Nevertheless, we will continue active measures in the fight against corruption. Our goal is not just to reduce corrupt practices, but to completely eliminate them,” Tashiev concluded.

Additionally, he reported that the authorities have set a goal: by the end of 2026, the level of corruption should be reduced to minimal values.

“Our data shows that until 2020, the level of corruption in government institutions and enterprises was 70–80%, and most issues were resolved through bribes. Today, this level has decreased to 30%, but this is still not the limit. We aim for a situation where, when the level of corruption reaches 10%, society will feel that corruption has disappeared from our lives, and we will achieve our goal,” Kamchybek Tashiev concluded.
