During a working visit to the Russian Federation, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, spoke at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held in St. Petersburg.
Prior to this, a closed-door meeting of the leaders of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union took place, attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as Presidents Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, and Vladimir Putin of Russia.
Then, an extended meeting was held, which also included President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan (a observing country), Indonesia's Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez of Cuba, who addressed the meeting via video.
The participants discussed key issues regarding the functioning of the EAEU and outlined further steps to deepen integration processes.
Summarizing the year, Japarov noted that the Union has demonstrated its resilience and organization, emphasizing that 2025 has become an important period for the socio-economic progress of the member countries: the economy has been stabilized, the domestic market strengthened, and cooperation developed.
"Economic cooperation in our Union is not just dynamically developing — it is becoming increasingly powerful. Mutual trade has reached almost 100 billion US dollars, and this is not just statistics. It speaks of trust, mutual support, and real interest of our countries in each other," the President stated, adding that there is significant unrealized potential in the area of mutual trade.
He emphasized the need to adopt and implement effective measures that promote an increase in the share of mutual trade in the overall volume of trade turnover.
Sadyr Japarov also highlighted that reducing barriers and costs contributes to the resilience of the Union and enhances its competitiveness.
"It is important for member states to consider the need to create transparent, stable, and predictable conditions for trade when making decisions at the national level," he noted.
Regarding Kyrgyzstan's economic indicators for the current year, the President emphasized that the country has managed to maintain positive dynamics. As of the end of November, GDP increased by 10.2%, with growth recorded in sectors such as industry, construction, services, and agriculture.
The head of state confirmed priorities in the area of food and energy security, emphasizing their interconnection with the economic stability of the countries.
In this context, he proposed developing specific measures aimed at strengthening the agro-food sector, ensuring the population has safe and affordable products, supporting farmers and producers, as well as attracting investments in modern technologies.
Discussing the key directions of the EAEU's international activities for 2026, Japarov noted that the document aims to stimulate economic growth, develop mutual trade, infrastructure, and innovations.
"We consistently support the course of expanding the geography of partnerships and concluding free trade agreements, viewing them as an effective tool for enhancing the competitiveness of the economies of EAEU member states," he added, expressing confidence that the businesses of the Union countries will take advantage of the opportunities opened up by agreements with Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Indonesia, signed this year.
In conclusion of his speech, the President noted that Kyrgyzstan welcomes the start of negotiations with Uzbekistan on an agreement for the exchange of information in the trade sphere, which will contribute to deepening interaction, increasing the transparency of trade procedures, and strengthening trust between customs services.
Sadyr Japarov also reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan's commitment to Eurasian integration and readiness for constructive and effective work in all areas of the Union's activities.
