In Kyrgyzstan, scholarships are awarded to students studying on a budget basis. The amount of the scholarship is determined by academic performance criteria (academic scholarship) and social needs (social scholarship), as well as for outstanding achievements — for example, the Presidential scholarship for honor students and winners of olympiads/competitions. The main recipients of scholarships include honor students, orphans, children with disabilities, and talented youth.
