In Astana, on February 12-13, a meeting of the vice-ministers of education and ecology from Central Asian countries took place, attended by Nadira Jusupbekova, Deputy Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan.

This event was organized in anticipation of the Regional Ecological Summit scheduled for 2026.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, the main focus of the meeting was on discussing the Concept of the regional platform for "green schools," which is to be approved during a high-level round table on "Children, Youth, and Climate." Participants at the meeting addressed important issues related to the formation of educational systems that are resilient to climate change, in light of the growing transboundary environmental challenges in the region.

During the session, Nadira Jusupbekova presented the current state and ongoing reforms in Kyrgyzstan regarding the greening of education. She noted that work is being carried out in several directions: resource conservation, enhancing the safety and climate resilience of school infrastructure, and integrating environmental topics into curricula. In Kyrgyzstan, about 120 climate-resilient schools are operating, energy efficiency projects are being implemented, building codes have been updated, and standards for "green schools" are being developed.

The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan in collaboration with a representative from UNICEF.

As a result of the discussions, agreed approaches to the development of climate-oriented educational systems were formulated, and specific steps for further advancing the regional platform for "green schools" were identified.
