The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, urged rural residents and farmers to pay attention to the importance of autumn fieldwork. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In the country, there are 1.25 million hectares of arable land, of which 800 thousand hectares are irrigated and 400 thousand hectares are rain-fed. However, according to the minister, autumn work is being carried out with significant delays.

On irrigated areas, plowing and sowing activities have only been completed on 62.2 thousand hectares, and moisture accumulation has only been achieved on 16 thousand hectares.

Thus, of the 800 thousand hectares, less than 10% have been processed — a total of 78 thousand hectares. On rain-fed lands, where there are 400 thousand hectares, work has only been completed on 75 thousand hectares — just 18%.

The minister expressed concern about such low indicators. He noted that climatic risks are increasing and added: "In spring, there may be insufficient precipitation, and the amount of snow may also be below normal. This will lead to an increase in water scarcity. If we do not accumulate moisture now, the harvest in spring will be significantly lower." He urged farmers to intensify efforts to accumulate moisture, conduct autumn plowing, and create small ditches to retain water, especially on rain-fed lands.

"Dear farmers! Pay attention to autumn fieldwork! Time may be running out. The moisture accumulated in winter is the key to the spring harvest," Bakyt Torobaev addressed agricultural producers.

The minister also emphasized that moisture accumulation under conditions of climate instability is critically important for ensuring good yields.
