Bakyt Torobaev once again reminded of the necessity for careful attention to autumn fieldwork.

According to him, out of 800 thousand hectares of irrigated land, autumn plowing and sowing work were completed on only 62.2 thousand hectares, and moisture accumulation occurred on just 16 thousand hectares. In total, less than 10% of the 800 thousand hectares were processed — only 78 thousand hectares. On rainfed lands, which made up 400 thousand hectares, work was carried out on only 75 thousand hectares, which is 18%.

The Current Situation

The minister expressed concern about these low indicators.

Climate Risks

Torobaev also noted the instability of climatic conditions, warning: “In spring, there may be insufficient precipitation and snow, which could lead to an even greater water deficit. If we do not accumulate moisture now, the harvest will be low in spring.” He urged farmers to intensify efforts to accumulate moisture, carry out winter plowing, and retain water using small ditches, especially on non-irrigated lands.

The minister's direct appeal is as follows: “Dear farmers! Pay attention to autumn fieldwork! Tomorrow may be too late. Winter moisture is your spring harvest.” He emphasized that in conditions of climatic instability, moisture accumulation is critically important for ensuring high yields.
