The cleaning work is carried out both manually and using specialized equipment. The total length of the collector-drainage networks in Bishkek is 80.6 kilometers: 64 thousand meters are open networks, while 16.6 thousand meters are closed.
Cleaning of both open and closed CDNs is conducted twice a year, in spring and autumn. Special attention is given to areas with a high groundwater level, particularly residential zones in the Pervomaisky and Sverdlovsky districts. These channels often experience the accumulation of silt and active growth of reeds, which requires regular intervention to maintain the normal operation of the system.
Among the main obstacles hindering the effective functioning of closed collector-drainage networks are illegal connections by residents, unauthorized installation of fences on drainage line plots, and theft of manhole covers. These actions pose a safety threat and complicate the maintenance process of the networks.
