The USA Recognized Kyrgyzstan's Leadership in the Field of Virtual Assets in Central Asia
The meeting between Farhat Iminov, head of the Secretariat of the National Council for the Development of Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Leslie Viguerie took place at the initiative of the American side.
During the conversation, Iminov presented the goals and objectives of the National Council and discussed the work of its executive body—the Secretariat.
He noted that the virtual asset market in Kyrgyzstan is successfully transitioning to a stage of institutional growth, with a total turnover reaching 860 billion soms in the first half of 2025.
Iminov emphasized that the introduction of the digital som, the tokenization of real assets, the improvement of financial literacy among the population, the enhancement of legislation, and the creation of necessary infrastructure in line with international trends will help the country become a key hub for Web3 technologies in the region.
Additionally, during the discussion, the Kyrgyz stablecoin KGST was mentioned, which became the first in the CIS to be listed on the Binance platform.
Farhat Iminov also reminded of the agreements reached during the meeting between the Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and the U.S. Donald Trump in November 2025, noting that the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and the IT sector are priority areas in Kyrgyz-American relations.
The U.S. Ambassador noted the rapid pace of development of the virtual asset sector in Kyrgyzstan, pointing out that the country is ahead of neighboring Central Asian states in this regard and has high potential for further growth.
There was also expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with the Kyrgyz side, including the exchange of experience with relevant government agencies and American companies in the field of development and regulation of virtual assets, as well as organizing specialized programs and training.
